Today I go to overclockers.co.uk and find even more C2Ds Intel have brought out a bottom of the range ultra cheap version of the conroe now with only 1mb cache. No idea how fast they are compared to thier big brothers but for under £60 for a dual core, clock its balls off chip I think we have a winner. Intel is sucker punching AMD right now, I expect it to start stamping on its head shortly.

Intel: "Bite the kerb!"
AMD: "Don't wanna..."
Intel: "Bite the kerb, bitch!"

well i guess we wait and see what AMD are gona bring out, and lets hope that its gone be shit hot with out the uber price tag,,
Intel really is taking advantage of AMDs currently weak position it seems. With the price of the C2D range set to drop again as soon as AMD brings anything out, things are looking pretty bleak :-(

its a shame that the AMD2 6000+ dose not rly compeat well with the intels coz u can pic one of those up for next to nothing and thats their flagship model for home pc's atm i belive
Next to nothing?! Its £165 over here (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-192-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=803) at OCuk. I'm only intending to spend £150 on a C2D 6600, it's not surprising AMD are getting beasted tbh.

Hex, Intels flagship is £700+ so yeah it is "nothing" for a flagship. If you want to talk silly money golook at the itanium processors, you'll be lucky if you can find one of the high end ones in the four figure mark.

Ok fair point it's next to nothing for the absolute top of the line, but its still expensive for what you're actually getting (compared to the C2Ds)

Oh yeah very true real shame that the C2D in the same price range still piss on it, real shame

No hex, it is not, read the reviews.
I've read the reviews. Yes I know it's not as cut and dried as all that. Nonetheless, if the 6000+ was such a steal then Intel wouldn't be running away with all but a monopoly.

If you read up you'd see that the performance margin is not big enough to detract large business users as the AMD product uses less energy therefore in a massive operation you can save money on you 'leccy bill. Granted in the home market they are winning but the actual difference in the last financial quarter was a 6% (i think, might have been 8%) shift back to intel. That is the same ground that AMD gained on the release of the Intel killer. So it is just Status Quo for now. Thier servers are sill being bought and the Xeon is no match for the Opteron in power/performance except in the very high end.
