Please, please try and update steam beforehand. It makes my life much easier if you do.

Aside from that, is anyone up for making one of the lans a retro-lan?
I've just uncovered system shock 2 (it's multiplayer) and discovered there is a high-res mod for it too. With that and quake2, duke nukem 3d and starcraft, I think we could make a good lan. fps would not be a problem.

I'd need to buy Quake2, Duke Nukem 3D and my Starcraft still doesn't wanna run. I don't think I have System Shock 2..
Links to something about SS2 please?

SS2 is only good as a 2 player game im afraid. It just don't work with more players. Sorry. :(
As far as a CS 1.6 tournement goes. Fine. I'll play. But I dont really see the point when we could be playing CS: Source or Vietcong 2.

Quake 2, DN3d and wolf3d have had their source codes released, so they are free games. Starcraft is on sale from about £5-£10 in shops, about the same online.
Has anyone heard of Hamachi?
http://www.hamachi.cc/
It allows people to vpn over networks, it could be useful for sharing patches and the like over the internet. It might even allow steam to be updated when in halls. Can someone take a quick look and see if it is going to be any use?

You can have more players on SS2, but its just not very good. And wootbiscuits for Vietcong 2.

Yeah, it's very true. Yega, Ruairidh (my bro) and I were playing it on sat. It's great fun but it's not the way it's ment to be played. One or two players but no more, just messes up the atmosphere. Your player model just looks WAY to silly. :)
All the biscuits are belong to Vietcong 2!

As far as Quake goes... Im really only up for Quake 3. And even then its just so I can kill Pixie at least once.

Or maybe hit him a couple of times. In the foot. From a distance. With a pistol. When he's away from keyboard?
Anyway, play Starlancer, it's amazing!

What about some freespace 2, it now has opensourcenessesseses (hmm, too many eseses there me thinks).
Its had a pretty hefty revamp of the graphics engine and stuff and looks dead nifty plus is now freeware.
