Hey guys
I was just wondering who has either one of these portable consoles. Ive never had a decent chance to play a PSP up close and personal. Is it really all its cracked up to be? Are any of the games any good?
I'm a DS owner myself.. always been a nintendo fan (mario kart comes out soon for it YEY!!). The most addictive game I've played on DS is called meteos, a touch-screen tetris-like game. But I swear to god, its better than tetris.... and I dont say that lightly. Of course mario 64 is always fun as well.. nintendogs, hmm not my sorta thing, but fun all the same. My dog answers to its name... "bastard", always fun when i shout that out in public!!!

Oh yeh if any1 whos going to the november LAN has a DS let me know what games you have, and I'll bring mine along.

I have a PSP and I love it, so far I have 2 movies and 2 games (Resident Evil Apocalypse, Donnie Darko, Medieval and Wipeout) I should be getting Liberty City Stories soon and generally I LOVE the little thing.

I don't understand the people who whine about the battery life, mine is fine for a full length movie with some spare.

But yeah, I played my friend's brother's DS and didn't enjoy it as much, I do own a Gamecube (although my little sister has it right now) and used to play the N64 (Goldeneye FTW), so I'm not particularly biased against nintendo. =)

From my experience I prefer the PSP though, it's fucking beautiful. =)

they do look sexy, thats for sure. the white ones I'm not so sure about though. Damn apple making every electronics company into a KKK member :P I dont really see the point in having UMD movies though, apart from to show off the coolness of being able to play movies on the bus. TBH i'd be scared to take it out on a bus, I dont fancy getting mugged by jealous neds. As for DS, i'm not too sure if they'd be as interested in mugging me for something that looks like its targeting the 'under three months old' user market. Although i do like that the screen cant get scratched.

I think it's more for long boring trips on planes and such.

Ive played both and Im pretty undecided. The DS doesnt have the games atm to tempt me, and the PSP is far too expensive.

Meteos though is a fantastic game. Not as good as Tetris though :)

And the same guy that made Meteos made a game for the PSP called Lumines. Lumines is a mix of Tetris and Rez. One of the best games I have ever played.

Fyndir emm... could you buy Lumines and bring your PSP to the lan? Will give you a free... heatsink and a... optical mouse?

I have no money to buy Lumines, if you buy the game you can play it on my PSP at the lan though, you could even borrow my PSP for a few days if you wanted. =)

Bleh cant afford it.

This is my only real annoyance with gaming. How some games are exclusive to certain platforms. I doubt Lumines will ever be released for anything but the PSP. Probably wouldnt be the same if it was released for the PC anyhow.

Bring it along to the lan anyways. :)

Erm.... because I want more than 2 and a half hours of gameplay for my Lithium Ion battery!

In all honesty, how often to do you sit down and play a game for 2 and a half hours without taking a break? =/

Pretty much every day of my long lustrous life. You can't really justify other people's gaming habits.

I dont play any game for less than an hour normally. Hell I've got Tetris on pause right now to make this post.

Especially with a beautiful game like Lumines for the PSP, the last thing I want to happen is the battery to die after bugger all play time.

I'm not trying to justify their gaming habits, I was just asking.

I just find the battery life to be more than enough, that's all.

Well I played Richard's Kirby game at the LAN for well over 3 hours solid at night. And wouldnt hesitate to do it with any other delicious game.

If the PSP was a bit cheaper and had better stamina.. Id probably go for one. But for now Ive rooted for a Blue DS :D
