Check this out, a small team have done a re-make of the original Space Hulk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Hulk) for the PC. I'm not going to detail Space hulk itself, Wiki can do that for me, but the original game was well sweet combining the tactical strategy of the board game with, at the time, state of art 3D graphics for a alternative 1st person view.
Been playing this re-make for the last few hours, I'd forgotten how addictive it was! It doesn't have a 3D engine so just the top down view for now.
Go get it here (http://www.teardown.se/). I think EEE owners should make it a must have, would be awesome to play on the move! :p
btw: does anyone have the actual board game? I remember some saying they did........

Charles' had it, and tons of expansions. I could probably get it off him, so long as he wasn't lame (which he probably would be - it's likely down at his parents).

Fuckin sweet, downloading now. All I requires is some spare time to play it in.
I keep meaning to get a copy of the original board game on ebay but they always seem to go for about £50, although I did just get paid...
This looks awesome, I'll def be checking it out when I get a minute!

sweet - looks like laser squad!
I've got the actual board game. Not played it for about 10 years or something, though.
They go for £50 on Ebay? Sweet - time to make some money.
Apparently my Talisman 2nd edition goes for a bit of money, too.
I forgot I had all this shit.
This computer game looks like a laugh - time to download, I think.
Edit: Talisman 3rd edition with all the expansions goes for hundreds! I'm fucking rich!

Is Space Hulk a possible contender for the 'downtime' games, ala Risk, at the next LAN? I've never played it.
Lol it ain't gonna be a contender if Sid flogs it on eBay for megabucks :-P

Sure :) I can't remember how long it takes, but it is quite good fun.
This computer game is doing my head in.

Sid, which edition do you own? If it's the 2nd edition, shown below, it's not worth as much (and isn't as good as 1st edition).

Yeah, it's the 2nd edition.
The last 3 that went on eBay sold for £45-£51.

Which is quite pleasing to me considering I paid a tenner for it new. I was about to put the lot in the bin not so long ago.

did you paint your models per chance?
did you paint your models per chance?
Nah - not the Space Hulk ones.
How many attempts are you guys taking to get through a level, on average? They're quite tricky.

yeah, I'm just playing the first campaign, Sin of Damnation, the third map is a bit of a bastard. Plus I've been trying to keep my terminators alive so they keep the promotions (they get chain fists and such like higher up) so I keep restarting. So yeah, first two maps, fine but the third I've played like 4 or 5 times and still no joy. :( Anyone beat it yet?
I keep trying to do a sort of pincer movement on the genestealers that build up in the middle but getting through the narrow twisty bit in the middle is a nightmare. Normally putting the flamer up front is good to clear your path and during a retreat, but in these corridors you just get stuck. Then you run out of fuel.....and well....that's that. Sergeants are decent with the power sword but not as good as I remember, maybe they got buffed in the original Space Hulk game?

REAL MEN USE LASGUNS!
I remember having a team game of space hulk at GW ayr ages ago using imperial guard.
Ended up a last stand aliens style with the guardsmen being steadly fed to entertain the stealers...

2nd ed spacehulk rules were far better than 1st; well, so long as you jammed in custom rules for assault cannons and cyclone missile launchers...

I have a terminator with Cyclones, I'll bring him along.....
sixth attempt. Almost got back, kinda. Then the guy that was covering the flamer (not the one that's alive still), (which had the C.A.T.) got ripped a new one. For there on, it only got worse. :( Try again tomorrow I guess. :)

Heh, those blood splats look terrible. Which took me down a chain of thought which involved CGI blood, arriving at Rambo, which I saw last night, which I hope you all have seen. You owe it to yourselves to see it.

2nd edition Space hulk had one thing missing. Time limited turns. Other than that it was very cool.
Sideshow
4th March 2008, 23:37
Well, it's not like it's hard to enforce a time limit on turns. I liked 2nd ed too, even if I did think the flamer rules were too powerful. OTOH, I was always playing the genestealers...

I loved Space Hulk, in any version! if there's a game going, count me in :)
Space Crusade, however, was in all ways superior... anyone have a copy? :D
Octavion
5th March 2008, 12:48
Hmmm...I think I've still got a copy of Space Crusade squirrelled away in a cupboard up north. I'll have to have a look for it next time I'm up at my parents.

HeroQuest was awesome, that was the first of those sort of games I ever had. If only I'd kept it...*sighs*

Yeah, GW has a tendency to be facists with intellectual property

After reading forums and stuff, it seems that the creators never got in contact with GW at all. Can see why GW would get pissed about that, still, sucky sucky. If anybody didn't get it, I'd be more than happy to "send" a copy. I've got a few mods on it, including Death Wing and Raven Guard chapters + the original Space Hulk titles instead of the PC Space Hulk titles. You can see it in this screenie (http://pausegaming.com/niall/SH01.jpg). Actually, this link is still active. (http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/spacehulk/full-game/21575.html)
