Not been terribly excited about this but the trailer here looks pretty.

Far Cry 2
Ubi Montreal Behind-the-Scenes HD (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/33738.html)

The odd thing is that the opening music is from Beyond Good & Evil. It is Ubisoft so I understand why they have it, but it just struck me as odd.

The game world sounds fun though, 50 square kilometres of African styled landscape to play in. :)

Let's hope Ubisoft learn from the mistakes of Far Cry better than Crytek did. I don't want the bad guys to switch to mutant Zebras half way through.

I'm hoping for a complex fist combat system and giant half lion half dinosaurs.

Just 'cause it would be awesome.

I still don't see what the issue with Far Cry and its monsters were. It was like playing a 'B' Movie. If they'd played on that angle instead of trying to pretend it was an intelligent and well thought out story it would have been better granted but it was a good not great shooter with a killer engine that was never(?) used to full effect.

+1 for the half lion/dinosaur

maybe make it a zombie, alien, lion, dinosaur for full effect though.

I'm with Giga, I much preffered the opening sections of Far Cry where you fought mercenaries to the latter sections fighting super-strong mutant monkeys. If nothing else I remember the difficulty curve getting a bit ridiculous when you were fighting things that could kill you in a single strike...

I seem to remember that the MP5 would kill the jumping monkey things in less than clip even on the hardest difficulty. The big dudes were sniper/distance kills only. By the time I got to that section of the game the grunts were insanely easy to kill even in large groups. Headshots that were very accurate and guns that made headshots easy = human enemys are dead enemies. If it wasn't for the monsters the last section of the game would have been a walkover. Much like crysis, seriously, who thought the grunts were difficult to take out?

I remember sections of the game where distance kills on the big dudes weren't an option, since the combat was conducted in corridors...

There is problem that cannot be solved with suitable application of jackhammer. :D
