EP[1]K LAN is the new event type; Esc & Playtime [incorporating] KustomPC's has been born!

Even the best things need to be changed on occation to make them, better, more efficient, more, eh, cash giving away.

In the light of this, the regular ESC/Playtime LANs have changed format and it's approach tournament gaming

This LAN will have 3 differences from the last events;

First and foremost, this LAN event will be taking place over 36 hours From 11am on Friday 18th til 11pm on Saturday the 19th
This event will hold 50 people, a mixture of BYOC and PC Rental
This LAN event will also see fewer tournaments, but with prize pots just as big as the last one!

FPS: There will be a £300 cashpot for the prize, £200 1st place, £100 2nd place. [Minimum of 10 teams for full cash pot to be made available]

RTS: There will be a £30 + Esc Time available for the winner of the prize and £20 + Esc Time available for second place.

GamboRaffle: With 50 People attending you could walk away with over £50 in this popular format.

Kustom Kup: This will be a new regular event hosted by Graeme from KustomPCs, more details on this will be available over the weekend.

There will be more 'big games' games where we have everyone taking part, not for the competition, mostly for the "sultanas 'n' giggles" factor.

Thats just an overview on whats going to be available over the event, we will as always have a mystery tourney and we are looking to bring back the popular event raffle which has allowed us to give away so much random stuff in the past.

You'll probably notice that I haven't posted up about which games we will be playing in these tournaments, theres a simple reason for that, we are letting you decide on which game will be played.

Head over to the forums and have your vote count in what you want to play.

Cheers

I'm going to vote for Starcraft, I think it's one of the most balanced RTS's that I've ever played, thats why its still so popular after a decade and the next person to say Zerg rush gets a cunt punt from me!

I was subjected to that ridiculous emailing nonsense as well. I don't know the truth behind it, but it did happen.

Still don't understand why people play Warsow when they could be playing Q3. *shrugs*. Maybe Quake Live will rekindle interest.

'Cause stock Q3 and Warsow are pretty different, it's only whehn you start playing CPMA that you start noticing the similarities between the two, but saying that, Warsow is still free to play and, imo, looks alot more flush. :]

Starcraft was hoped to be played at the last LAN actually. I even managed to find a portable apps version of it for LAN only. :P But due to time constraints at that LAN we couldn't fit it in. Get voting though, there's still no clear cut winner for it!

We're very eager to hear your opinions on what games should be played in the tournaments and througout the LAN. I know from experience alot of you guys are into your RTS's, and at themmmoment the vote for the RTS to win is still out in the open, so jump over and stick a vote in. :]

What do you mean by a 'portable apps version'? Sounds interesting...

I think in starcraft, they have install Spawn ? Which only allows networking play. (I think! not sure)

The portable apps version is about 200mb and allows you to fire it up and play on lan running it from a USB pen, which is nice.

If you've got a spare USB pen give http://portableapps.com a peek, it's based on E3 flash security too, which is nice.

I would attend this LAN if the RTS DOW 2v2 prize money (split between two) amounted to more than the entrance fee. I'm confident we would win.

The RTS genre is pretty weak atm, until starcraft 2 comes out most competitive RTS gamers (that play high end games) are sticking with DoW.

Naturally I'm going to big up DoW, its my game, but I think its one of the few games in the genre atm that appeals to the casual gamer (looking for accessibility, variety, relatively high end graphics) and competitive gamers (looking for depth, steep learning curve and skill intensive micro).

Doesn't matter which game it is, the game the person plays, they will also think "depth, steep learning curve and skill intensive micro",looks like DOW 2v2 is going to win :D So you must take the titel home!

How come no starcraft 2v2 ? may be that be more appealing?
