Hey guys, my old PC is up for grabs: it's cheap (£120 ono) and will cope with TF2, COD4 etc fairly well. (Peter's recent hardware survey shows it's still an average rig)

Specs are:

CPU: AMD 3800X2 with an Akasa AK-876 cooler
Motherboard: Asus A8N-Sli Premium socket 939
RAM: 1GB OCZ Premium 3200 DDR
GPU: XFX 7600GT XXX Edition
CD: LG DVD-drive
40GB HDD
iCute 0314TL case - 4 x 80mm fans

I've installed a copy of XP and stress tested it and everything is working fine; crysis even plays on a mix of medium and low at 40-60fps.

If you haven't shifted this in a month's time (I won't have money until then) and are willing to split, I'll most likely buy the motherboard from you.

For any of you considering this: £120 is a really decent price for the full system - well worth snapping up.

Wow, that is good value.

However, if that's the XFX you lent me, I'd have to advise prospective buyers that it'd need replaced fairly soon if you want to continue gaming in the foreseeable future.

Yeah the Vid card is not exactly good these days, but it'll play most of the stuff we play at the LAN no bother.

Price wise, the whole thing is probably worth more sold as separates, but it's too much hassle. If there's no takers for the whole thing, then I'll sell off bits and ditch the rest. Or overclock it till it catches fire.

stick a 3850/3870 in that and you'll be playing everything without much issue I'd have thought.

Yeah, it's a solid base to build on, especially for freshers who didn't bring their rigs with them...

Maybe use it as a "walk in" rig for the Freshers LAN if nobody buys it in the next few weeks?
