Hi all,

You might have realised that the board was down for an hour or so today.
This was because there was a spambot posting under the name of stick5231.
I had thought this was suspicious at 9am this morning, but thought there was a reasonable chance that this was a person. After bluepixie called at 10am and said this was a spambot, I went into full panic mode (tm) and switched off the forum.

Thanks for the heads-up, Bluepixie :D

The spambot acount is now disabled, and there's now a 'guess the numbers' Confirmation Request if you are posting as a guest (as well as the same on new registrations).
I'd been meaning to do the later for quite some time now.

That should keep the wolf from the door for a while now. I think, anyway.

You know, I thought it might be something like that when I saw them posting earlier today. =/

They kept posting the same thing that looked like a fucked over line of code, I decided it was probably someone being a bit spammy and trying to be funny though.

I just thought it was some new guy, who was pissing me off by bumping really old posts. I mean, he (it) posted to the announcement thread for the July LAN. That should have been a clue :)
OTOH, people are stupid enough to actually do stuff like this... stoopid people. :evil:

The board is now updated to phbb version 2.0.18

Nah, just kidding :)

They're unicode characters, so /should/ render if your browser is set to unicode.

I just wondered if anyone actually reads these posts. :D
