'k not sure if this should be here or in the chat section.

Half-Life and all things source can be run from a dedicated server that does not require and internet connection or a steam account. the download is 400mb plus for the half life and about the same for the source version. However they are only available (to me) via file planet. Can someone with torrenting skills etc find a version that won't take the next 6 years to download. An FTP site would be best but all the ones I've tried are dead.

Do you think GUNS could get a subscription to one of these fileplanet or similar servers so we can can access to all the latest and greatest at decent download rates?

For standard subscription the cheapest is $39.95 yearly. That shouldn't be a problem for GUNS to afford I would have thought.

Sound decent?

Do they allow multiple logons from different IPs?

If so, it's something to seriously consider. At the moment, the club is breaking even (I think, Chris?), but has all the equipment it needs to run a lan. At the next lans, we'd be turning a profit that should be used for the members' benefit.

Also, I thought the best way of running a dedicated server for HL / CS was going through steam. You don't need a cd-key this way.

The Steam forums look like they're unusually helpful when it comes to administering a Dedicated server.

I already have the update tools and if you click the links for the server files it says file not found.
