Ouch. That looks painful :D

World's somplest jigsaw, only problem: there's one piece missing!
Did you see the hole it made through the motherboard and into the table as well! Mental.

On a related topic, did you see the pictures of the world record 3dmark05 score with an overclocked

The chap was using an AMD FX 57 CPU and managed to clock it to astonishing 3928 MHz in overclockers' favorite DFI LAN party Nforce 4 SLI motherboard.

He used two of just released Gainward PowerPack Ultra/3550PCX (7800GTX 512MB) Graphics cards in SLI. The boards were overclocked to 779 MHz core and 2052 MHz memory and the chap managed to get the highest 3Dmark05 score ever.

Those pictures are pretty good. I'm scrolling down them, thinking "wow, you've really insulated those pipes. And those other pipes are pretty big... Holy Shit, that pipe is fucking huge! WTF is that fo?. Oh. Liquid Nitrogen. Sure."

just a shame they faked it, anyone that has run a soket a athlon knows that you simply cannot overclock it without the fan running, it gets too hot too quickly, if the HS was not attached properly it would actually overheat before it gets into windows. I know as I have one and have done this. Nice little video though.

um, I'm not arguing that the video isn't fake, but it quite clearly shows that the fan is attached and running (hence Windows being up), which the guy then removes to set it off.

watch it again, the fan ain't on. and you cannot be sure that that screen is attached to that computer.

Think the current reccord for an AMD64 is 4GHz. Saw it on the Xtreme Systems forum.

However I prefer buying into the "overclocking is good in moderation". Got my chip running at FX-55 speeds. So I effective have a dual core FX-55.

Going to OC my graphics a little. But Im in no hurry :P

Edit: PS. Yega is right btw. There is no way you would get that Duron to post, let alone into windows... without having a fan running and a heatsink. To be able to lift the heatsink off as easily as that... there is no way that there was decent thermal contact between the heatsink and the IHS.

Nice effect though.

Where is that Tom's hardware report about running the procesor without a heatsink.

Agreed, the duron would never post at 4 GHz.

Wow! Would you look at that setup! Mental! Wonder what the temps were during that....

....one sec, one of my lecturers was using liquid nitrogen for an experiment. Maybe if go and have a chat with him......

sorry blue. I think you'd need to make sure that you recondensed it after each pass over the chip so that you didn't end up with just blowing the tubes.
