Well I picked this up yesterday and it is great fun, much more like the original Op Flashpoint rather than Arma (or I would guess Arma II). Anyone else got it yet? Some 4 player co-op of the single player campaign should be a blast. I was assuming there would already be a thread regarding this but I am blind probably and cannot see one. :D

I've heard quite a few bad things about ofp2, but I would like to try it!

Also, anyone else interested: ASDA are selling it for £27 this week. Defo for PS3 and I think for 360 too. Not sure about PC version.

Im liking arma2 atm, saw some ofp2 vids and looked not far from a cod4 clone. Il hold judgement untill i play it but im not getting my hopes up: after all 4 player coops? wtf?

I've heard that it's not that great. (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/10/08/wit-operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising/)

Dunno what you were reading pixie but that review suggested it was a successor to Delta Force 2 and that was a good (if different game). The review didn't suggest it was bad at all. If anything it is a better 'game' than ARMA2 but that is it's greatest failing. Sounds ideal for the rtards @ lan IMO.

We should play Delta Force 2 at the LAN, I love that game and I think I've got a copy somewhere in my flat. Voxels ftw!

Read this and my immediate reaction was to post "Voxels ftw!"

Got this game for £15, and i can easily say it does not live up anything like the previous operation flashpoint games. The only thing it has in common is the name, the PC version is clearly a console port and i would recommend avoiding this even for less then a tenner.

Quoted from another forum, makes me a sad panda. BUT il give it a go.

I finished it yesterday and its fun but its lacking something to make it a proper operation flashpoint game. I think its the lack of useage of the vehicles, there are no sections in tanks or helicopters where you are supposed to pilot them. The engine is great and I suspect we shall see some awesome user created maps that will really make it feel more like op flashpoint but as it stands it is just a fun little game with the potential for a good laugh in multiplayer co-op. Ah well maybe I should pick up Arma II but after Arma and my inability to get to grips with actually being able to hit what I was aiming at it put me off. When I sit on a water tower with a scoped rifle in Arma I would like to have 2 bullets do the same thing when fired the same way, I can compensate for a drift to the left but not if the next bullet drifts miles to the right, or shoots high, or drops significantly lower, maybe I just suck but I never could figure it out.

I remember having that trouble in that mission (scenario) as well. I've no idea what that was all about.

I thought we put that down to the copy protection wrecking the game? i remember the demo running badly on my machine but the shots seemed to go where I expected.

Oh yeah that's true. I don' think I ever tried playing that mission again after buying it. Maybe I'll check that out at some point..........not likely. :)

Imo, I think GRAW 2 will satisfy our need for co-op army stuff, but I'll happily give Dragon Rising a shot.

You guys are terrible, terrible snipers. You are hereby only allowed to use MAC 10s and Uzis.

Played the first mission: after standing on a hilltop in the open and still managing to mow down enemys i closed the game -.-

Utter shit,

No where near realism when compared to Arma2 or even the old ofp.
Not smooth and flowing as a arcady shooter like cod4

appaers to lie in the middle ground perhaps trying to pickup the FPS fans that graw missed.

would much rathere play graw, Cod4 or arma2

BUT i will force myself to play though it perhaps it will grow?

This is pretty much my opinion too, except that the middle ground which it occupies is full of mediocrity and poo. That is to say: It's not as good as GRAW, not as good as OFP and not as good as CoD4.

Sir, I can only hit with shotguns at under 3ft, Sir! Also I have no sense of friend from foe. Do I qualify for room clearance duties?

You have now been assigned to waiting duties at the officer's club.

I reckon if you want a game thats similair to the old flashpoint, Arma 2 is the way to go. This game doesnt look like it will be anything like the old one.

I hate my crappy computer, runs arma 2, just. How pathetic is that? stupid radeon X1300 series ( Dont laugh )

Really tempted to upgrade but i wouldnt know where to start ( also im a student now so minimal £££'s ) =(

Yo creed, drop about £50 and you can get a decent enough graphics card. If you don't have £50 then you are just wasting money trying to replace that card. If you are about at the LAN ask about, folk might have an old card they aren't using.

Or do what i do and jst save your pennies for ages untill you can buy a bitching pc then use it for years and years :D

I could spare maybe £100? At the expense of eating rice and beans for a few months. Unfortunately im not at the next LAN as im at home =(

Also there is 2 other issues, no point getting a really good one if its held back by other shitty hardware and if my girlfriend realises i spent my food money on computer stuff i will be in trouble xD

Well if you take a peak at the hardware thread you'll see that I suggest spending no more than double the cost of your processor (in general) on your graphics card so what are you packing CPU wise?

/cast Resurrection

It may not have been a particularly great game going by the responses here, but Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is the Steam weekend deal, for £5.49. Thought I'd post it up in case someone fancies a shot at it for cheap.

Edit: I R dumb and forgot link.

It's OK. Calling in fire missions is fun. Frustrating checkpoint mechanic, and I know everyone who loves ArmA will say it's not realistic enough and a console driven cop-out, but I'd recommend giving it a go for a fiver.

The reason I didn't want to pay full price for it.
