Astonishing, how can anyone be so pigheaded? He reviewed it in 2004. Must be taking the piss.

It's just some guy attempting humour. Really really badly.

My favourite bit is the review time. 07/02/04. He's completely forgeting that doom is the original FPS and without it all others would not follow. Maybe he needs a lesson in nostalgia, that or a labotomy. Little upstart!

quote: Every single sound you'll hear in the whole game is either stupid or unrealistic. I mean, in a FPS shooter named Doom you have to try and make a game realistic and creepy, right? This game is about as scary as a kitten. I played this game at midnight, on a very dark night in winter. I had all the lights turned off in the house. I tried to feel like I was even the slightest bit creeped out, from the sound and stuff. Amazingly, I felt just like I had before, only much sleepier.

This thing was made for crappy sound cards! What does he expect? Hell I had an Aztech sound card in my Packard Bell P133 playing Doom and at the time that was pretty high speced for Doom.

quote: Doom becomes so repetitive I thought that something was wrong with my computer. I mean, wander down a corridor, kill a monster, open a door, go forward, kill more monsters. Fun for a little while, but if it's a whole, long game, it becomes treacherous.

erm... try running any type of physics engine on a system like this and it would howl at you! Sorry. This kid needs shot not a labotomy.
