Recommend me a monitor. I currently have one of these: LG 19" (http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-L196WTQ-SF-TFT-Wide-Screen/dp/B000UC90B8) (max res 1400x900)
I want a dual monitor setup, so the new one doesn't have to be any better. OTOH, am I maybe better getting a better one now if they are inexpensive? Not really needed for gaming, more for productivity. Bargains preferred, but value-for-money could override cheapness.

Why do you want dual monitor? I've ran dual monitor for years now, but it's just a nuisance. As soon as I afford it, I'm buying a 30".

Well for one thing it's cheaper than buying a 30".

Excellent point.

Hold on a second. I thought that Yega started this thread. I am so confused. Isn't he the only one that posts in the Hardware forum?

Also, how are you, Sideshow?

I'm good, except for the lack of good monitor buying advice in this thread :)

If this is for home then you'd be better getting a better principle monitor as that one is horrible. Go for a cheap 22-24" as they have enough space to do what you want leaving your second monitor for, well, secondary things (like reference material).

If gaming is no longer your thing and photo shop never was then most likely any monitor will suffice as the market is too competitive to let a real stinker in.

hanns-g do cheap decent 19" widescreen monitors
buy a 24" though, value for money and decent size for watching films from bed :)
my recommendation is the one I have: 24" Samsung Syncmaster 2443BW (and I have a 19" hanns G in dual configuration)

I've been dual monitoring for quite a while with the aforementioned syncmaster monitor. My only issue so far is the number of games that throw a hissy fit if you don't disable the second monitor before starting. I would like to see more dual monitor support from graphics card manufacturers before I'd recommend anyone else doing it. Or it might just be dodgy nVidia.

It's a slightly different model you have Phil, the more rounded frame one, but yeah it's more or less the same. I have an ATI 4890 and have never experienced any games that wouldnt work. Some very old games that would normally pan the screen to the left when the mouse was moved over dont work on that side (where the second monitor is). That's about it.
