PauseGaming Top 10 Games 2010

Hey all!

Happy New Year! Another year is past and with it a slew of incredible games. It's been a belter this year with some great new IPs and much improved sequels. I just thought it'd be fun to see what everyone has been enjoying this year and see if we can collect it into some kind of top 10. Just for the giggles.

So, rules are pretty simple:

- All platforms included
- Must have been released between 01/01/10 and 31/12/10 (betas and such count if you paid for them. Region doesn't matter either)
- List in order of preference please!

I know Gamespot is not the most popular website in the world but if you check out the game lists you can remind yourself of what was released this year.

This. There's so much stuff I haven't had the time or money to get to that I actually struggled to pull together 10 2010 games I'd played. Here's the best of what I have tried though:

1. Bayonetta
2. Enslaved
3. Costume Quest
4. Super Mario Galaxy 2
5. Final Fantasy XIII
6. Monster Hunter Tri
7. Limbo
8. Halo: Reach
9. Red Steel 2
10. Super Meat Boy

Most likely definite contenders that I intend to but haven't played: Red Dead, Alan Wake, Super Assassin's Creed Bros. I'm not a Mass Effect fan btw.

Near miss for Dead Nation. This year I finally got to play Shadow Complex, which would easily be top 5 if it was admissible (as would Castlevania: Symphony of Night)

Brotherhood, Hot Pursuit, and Digital (http://scoutshonour.com/digital/) were the surprises this year.

Edit: Most disappointing game this year was God of War 3.

Minecraft was released in 2009

Minecraft hasn't been released yet. It's still in development.

Survival mode, which is pretty much 'the game' (as opposed to Infdev, which really was coop Lego), was made available for play in 2010.

Paid for Alpha was released in June 2010, so I guess under Niall's rules it's allowed. Mine is, in no particular order:

1. Civ 5
2. GT5
3. Fifa 11 (Not just because it's another Fifa game, but it made some pretty amazing changes to how I play football games)
4. The Undergarden
5. Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition
6. Fallout: New Vegas
7. Just Cause 2

Don't think I actually have any more. My disappointments were CoD Black Ops and BFBC2. Looking forward to trying Heavy Rain, Limbo and RDR.

Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. "Played" through it this afternoon. Have tried a lot of this kind of freeware indie stuff before (Passage, Gravitybone and the like) but this is the first one to have really struck a chord with me. Reminds me I need to try Sleep is Death.

Yeah, I got it off a top 10 list done by Carrie Gouskos (Bioware Mythic producer) for Giant Bomb. I really liked it.
