I've been looking for a place to play fighting games in Glasgow regularly, and have found that 1LevelUp (http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/1levelup-glasgow) does a Thursday Night Fights evening every week where people who like to play fighting games go and play them. It was recommended to me over on another forum, so i'm thinking about giving it a go next week (Thursday 5th of May).

They play a wide variety of things, from SF4 to Marvel 3 to the new MK9 and a whole host of older games like 3rd Strike and Marvel 2.

I think me and Lewis (Octavion) will be going for sure, and since I recently discovered that some of you actually play these games as well, then I thought it might be worthwhile checking here first to see if some of you wanted to come check it out with us. It's every Thursday evening, and apparently only costs £2.

People on the other forum mentioned that you should bring along whatever controller/stick you like to play on, and a copy of whatever game you'd like to play, as they tend not to have loads of copies of anything apart from things like Halo/CoD.

So, post up if you fancy trying it out next week!

Sounds awesome and I'd love to do this eventually but the only fighter I play is SSFIV I'm still really sucky. Plus exams and stuff. Mind and tell us how it goes.

Lewis and I went along this evening. Was pretty good, I think we'll both be going back next week. You should come Pixie, BackgroundSound, it's good times.

BackgroundSound, there are people there who are also not good at Super, so don't let that stop you. And no one is good at Marvel. everyone is good at marvel, apart from Lewis and myself.

It was a fun night indeed. In good news, Gunder and I seemed to be the best at MK9...because no one else had played it yet.

I'd like to attend the next one as well, but as with the first, it's the day before an exam. I'l see how my studying goes though.

I've been meaning to go to one of these things for a while but who knows when I'll get round to it. Soon I hope, although my Marvel team will most likely get smashed

Well I know two people that you could handily thrash at least. Especially if you're still doing good stuff with Doom.

Yeah I'd like to think I've levelled my doom up a bit. I started using him when I picked up team Niddhogg and he's been a tonne of fun ever since. At times he can pull a lot more weight than the rest of my team, even if it is only because the person I am playing cannot deal with me spamming photon shot.

Who's coming along tomorrow? I'm planning to be there for about 7pm. The address is 34 St. Enoch Square, buzzer no. 2.

Sure, I'll head down. I usually aim to get there for around 7.

Myself, Nancymaker and Tarquin have started going. It's a fucking blast and so long as us noobies stick together, it's easy to have a good few hours of games that aren't terrifyingly one sided. There's drinks and snacks on sale, loads of friendly people and the price for entry + stick rental is super cheap.

I'll certainly be going every week I can and dragging anyone who's interested along with me. Usually get some food beforehand so if people wanna go meet at St Enoch around 4pm or just turn up whenever.

I might start going again. Work permitting.

What time does it start, cos I have lectures until 5pm on a Thursday?

My one experience there was me inadvertently entering an MK9 competition a week after release.

From memory I think it's from about 6pm onwards.

It's 5pm forward but you can turn up whenever. Doesn't really kick off until about 6. There's usually some kind of free tourney on for some random game (sometimes rock paper scissors, the mans fighting game). Due to Uni I probably won't be able to make it until about 5:30pm most thursdays anyway, so it's all good.

Sounds good, will have to pop along at some point

Sounds fun to me too, not sure about how to navigate glasgow yet to get there but I'll figure it out.

If you can find the entrance to a subway, it's literally right outside the St. Enoch stop. Just turn around and look for the right window. You need to buzz to get in though I believe. We might be heading as a group though so we can try and arrange to meet up before hand.

I'll try and sort some shit out Wednesday evening. Worst comes to the worst I can give you guys my mobile number and we can all stumble around until we find each other.

We are planning on meeting up in the QM (in Quids or the Food Factory, just hunt for us) at about 3ish till quarter to 4ish. If that doesn't work for you then we'll be in the Burger King in St. Enoch's Centre from 4 till a bit before 5.

See you guys there!

Big ups to all the people who graciously whooped my ass at every game apart from tekken (and those who did that too)
