We figured a Wednesday evening would be easiest, but we're aware some studenty folk are going away, and some are coming back.
So, please vote on which day(s) you're free. It is most likely to be held at ~6pm in a QMU Committee Room, then the bar afterwards.

If anyone knows a LAN-goer who's not on the forum, ask them to get in touch ASAP please :)

Weekends suit me better.

Noted. We could theoretically do a Saturday if enough people wanted. :)

Would it maybe make more sense to leave the AGM until just after Freshers week?

According to the constitution:

5.2.1. The Annual General Meeting shall be held during the second Semester.

So it really should have happened already and delaying it till freshers' week isn't really an option.

Rules are made to be broken, mocked, set ablaze etc

I'll stand for something, but the lack of a car, aging gaming PC, zero consoles and no transportable equipment, I'm not sure I'll be a lot of use. Therefore, perfect for President? :D

Last year's was in the "third semester" too. Oops. But no, we'll have one soon.
Apparently Tarquin and bloodninja are back on the 9th, so it may well be the 13th at this rate. So long as we get some new folk along, to press gang them^W^W^W encourage them to run for committee ;)

I have no car, a laptop and a PS2. Nor was I much use this year. Welcome aboard, Mr President ;)

Any of the days is fine by me. I can work around any conflict and make sure I get there.

Not sure whether or not I will apply for any positions yet. Still mulling it over.

The academic year is broken into 3 terms (or 4 for med students -an extra summer term) or 2 semesters, depending on faculty. i.e. 2 semesters = 3 terms. The 2nd semester is the second half of the normal academic year. There is no 3rd semester. anyhoo...

Saturday afternoon would be better for me.

I could maybe be up for Spare Position X. I have a car, dont want to bring any of my consoles, but willing to help with transport (whether on committee or not) to PC events. Equally I dont care if there are enough other people that want to do stuffs. Srsly though, get some people who can organise / schedule things for Pres / Secretary positions. The main attributes would be: someone who can go into the QM often during weekdays, on different days at different times to bug the shit out of the QM general office and board members to ensure that they havent fucked up our bookings; actually organise a schedule of gaming events with the QM and get a definite list of agreed dates - and check these constantly; check the checked dates again; check once more a few days before the agreed date; and finally, be prepared for disappointment because despite repeated checking, the QM have still managed to quadruple book your room with the Cecilians, Duke of Edinburgh, Young Jehovan's Book Club, etc. Try not to cry.

Aye. I'm more than happy to go for another round in the committee, but with most of the LAN attendees this year being students, it'd be nice to have a stronger representation (note: we NEED 2/3 of President, Secretary and Treasurer to be matriculated Glasgow Uni students)

What exactly does being Secretary entail?

Gunder
24th June 2011, 23:45
Booking events. Organising meetings, taking the minutes. Communicating with the society on behalf of the committee.

Edit: The responsibilities change slightly with each new committee, depending on how the President wants to run things.

I'll write up a list of what each position entails, and stick it up, maybe once we have the AGM booked.

Pretty much as Gunder said. Taking minutes and room bookings are the big ones. Though it's not set in stone, for example this year, Vipes wasn't on campus as often as me, so I'd go to battle on the room-booking quest.
The Secretary is generally the second name that's given to the SRC, QM, etc when it comes to "who should we contact, and who is authorised to book rooms?"

By the looks of things, Wednesday 13th, or that Saturday, looks like the best time for people.

The secretary should also publish the minutes of meetings, which hasn't happened this year.

Korin
30th June 2011, 16:56
Mm, everyone give Vipes a stern something-or-another when next you see him. If you want the minutes of the 2 meetings we had where we said "Everything going fine? These dates okay? Cool", I'm sure he'll get them up.

Anyway, it seems most people are cool with the 13th, or thenabouts. I can't make Saturday 16th (running a gig at the Classic Grand, so I'll be there all day), so either we have the AGM on Wednesday 13th or Sunday 17th. Your call, gentlemons~
