Hay!

We're thinking of getting a Minecraft server for the society. Would there be much interest in it?

We can also get something else like TF2, etc but I was thinking having our own proper Minecraft server would probably be a bit more interesting.

A Minecraft server would be good (Mitch and I ran one for a little while) but I would suggest waiting until patch 1.8. We'll want to make a new world at that point to take advantage of the map generation changes that will be arriving.

Yeah, I know. :3 It's out this week anyway so by the time we get it 1.8 should be out.

I have a 12 man Minecraft server hosted by multiplay right now.

Provided there won't be too many phalluses involved ( >10 ) you're all welcome to play @ 85.236.101.112:28765.

Will extend to a 16 man if it proves popular (and maybe more).

Hells yeah. 1.8 is great. The new terrain gen is superb. Caving has never been so much fun.

Absolutely! The server is fresh today and all we have is a castle so far. Feel free to drop in :D

Found a stronghold yet? I've seen plenty of mines and ravines (which are cool) but no strongholds.

Nice castle btw.

Unfortunately i've not managed to find a stronghold, plenty of npc villages (there's 3 right near the farm lodge thing on our server alone) and TONS of ravines both on the surface AND underground.

I understand that at the moment only 3 strongholds MAX spawn per world, which is a little annoying. Once 1.9 comes out I think I read that it's going to be changed to an infinite amount.

I found a ravine underground and was absolutely gobsmacked. I didn't realise they could form in caves, and it looked so eerie, especially when I met an Enderman at the end...
