I decided to take photos of all of my old PC games. Thought some might be interested as I hear people here like games and things. I might do the same for my other game collections but this is easily the most interesting in my opinion.

So we can sneak into his flat when he's out and swap all those discs into the wrong boxes?

Nah, leave the disks but change around the lids and swap the manuals.

Well I guess if you decide to eBay any of them you're well equipped...

You are history's worst monster.

I want to get wallpaper made of scanned game manuals/inserts for the study. Would be epic.

Just go round his house and crinkle one of the manuals. He'll sell it cheap then.

Download the ISOs? I wouldn't imagine it's difficult to find and you're more than entitled to a backup copy of a game that you do in fact own.

Really? Care to show me the legalese that says you are allowed to backup your games.

I'd like to point you in the direction of UK copyright law: http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p01_uk_copyright_law

Acts that are allowed

Fair dealing is a term used to describe acts which are permitted to a certain degree without infringing the work, these acts are:

Private and research study purposes.
Performance, copies or lending for educational purposes.
Criticism and news reporting.
Incidental inclusion.
Copies and lending by librarians.
Acts for the purposes of royal commissions, statutory enquiries, judicial proceedings and parliamentary purposes.
Recording of broadcasts for the purposes of listening to or viewing at a more convenient time, this is known as time shifting.
Producing a back up copy for personal use of a computer program.
Playing sound recording for a non profit making organisation, club or society.
(Profit making organisations and individuals should obtain a license from PRS for Music.)

If you've bought a game, you can legitimately create a backup copy for your own use. I'd say that downloading a backup copy created by someone else because you lost your own discs before you created your own backup falls under the same idea. While I'm not a lawyer and can't speak to the exact letter of the law, ethically speaking it's not stealing if you're merely obtaining another copy of something you already bought.

Backing up your disc before you lost it would be, according to the above information, legal. Downloading one off some torrent site AFTER you lose it, would not be.

Clearly if you have the box and the other discs you can prove that you own the software, so having a backup is unlikely to have legal consequences.

I could easily acquire this no problem at all. ( Got to love my 100Mb Connection at home) But I really would like to have a full original copy of the game again.

Sorry man I'm not putting any of these up for sale at the moment. However, if you're a FFVIII fan you might be interested in some of the figures I have? I've got Seifer, Quistis and Selphie (like this one) (http://www.ebay.com/itm/220830058984?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1604wt_1107) boxed and in good condition. Can get you more details if you're interested.

Believe it or not someone is actually selling Disc 3 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FINAL-FANTASY-VIII-8-REPLACEMENT-DISC-3-III-PC-XP-COMPUTER-GAME-EXCELLENT-DISK-/180734225786?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a14996d7a#ht_1317wt_952) and Disk 4 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FINAL-FANTASY-VIII-8-REPLACEMENT-DISC-4-PC-XP-COMPUTER-GAME-EXCELLENT-DISK-/180734225801?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a14996d89#ht_1317wt_952) on eBay individually. The prices are a bit of a joke though. If you want to buy another full copy of the PC version the going rate seems to be around £20.

Not that it matters, but I have FFVII for PC fully boxed and complete. Not for sale. :)

It's one of the very few boxed games I've managed to keep intact from yesteryear.

Which is what I paid for it originally! Nice! :)
