Hi everyone!
Just thought I'd introduce myself and generally flail my arms in panic at being a newbie. :) I'm a second year, was looking for a club to join and figured this looked pretty good, being a gamer.
My laptop is all kinds of BALLS, and pretty much cries when I play Minecraft, and my flatmate took his TV and Xbox out of the living room and into his bedroom so that he could play Skyrim all day, and not let me play it... I'm having video game withdrawals as a result.
So erm...yes, that's me. I'm a bit crackers. Probably because I listened to the YoGPoD from start to finish in 3 days...

Vidya gaemes without a means of vidya gaemes? Read some books? :(
Or come along to our console LANs where the hardware is provided!
Additionally save some of that student loan or harrass parental units for "desperately needed new computer so you can write up your reports etc, and yeah it does need that £200 graphics card...umm that latest version of Word is a total graphics hog". You can get a pre good system these days for like £300. But that's a story for another thread.
Welcome to the forums and the society in general. :) We're all going to the pub soon - some point next week I think? Join us.

Pleasure to have you aboard!
My old laptop used to limit me to pre-Source HL mods, and Diablo II, but you'll find a bunch of games we play should work fairly well; not all of them will chew up and spit out graphics cards :)

Honestly looking at the upcoming LAN's game line-up, the only GPU smashing game there is like, Starcraft 2. Even then, Warcraft 3 will be going on simultaneously, so potentially you'll be able to play a large majority of what's going on.
And if you can't there's always Soldat and League of Legends. (And Quake 3 I guess.)
EDIT: We should consider adding UT99 too. Even the software renderer on that runs nicely.

Hello, hello!
Like everyone else said you'll probably be fine for most of the games at the upcoming LAN, and even then I'm sure we'd probably sort something out. ~Let's just netplay SNES games the entire LAN~
Also do indeed come to pub meet!

Thanks guys! I should hopefully be at the pub if I don't get totally lost! And I'm really not sure what my laptop will handle as I've only recently used it for games as I was more of a console person, until Skyrim stole it, the TV and my flatmate and locked them all in his room. :C And my Wii broke, damn lens gave out. No Oblivion, Skyrim, Skyward Sword or Monster Hunter Tri for me for MONTHS now. :C Sad face.
I actually can't consume alcohol at the moment either, so it's all pretty dire. I might need hugs off people at the pub. :P

If you're worried about getting lost, I'm sure one of us will come get you at a place you know and walk you there! In fact, I think Knifa was going to give a general meet-up place for those not familiar with Glasgow and walk them down. It's quite easy though!
