Has anyone done some blistering lap times and saved them? I've been trying to get better at LFS, but seem to have reached a plateaux.
I'll stick my best time and replay up when I go home tonight.
There are several good replay analysers online, linked from the LFS homepage: http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=analysers

Some LFS mods here:

THe most useful one is the Ghost mod. - Lets you see your best lap in ghostly blue while you are racing. Great for improving your times.
Niall, DAve get on the LFSforums and download the replay of the F1 car doing rallyx, fastest rallyxer by about 5 sec!!! Nuts
The replay is here. You need to register, I think, to get the files.

Dave, have you noticed that you are now part of Team [GUNS]. You can now have that as your official team when racing, we have registered the group etc. Niall and I are going to come up with a skin for the demo cars that we can all use when online for some proper 'team' feeling. Are you available for a race anytime in the future? I race weds at 7pm and every 2nd sunday @ 5pm. But any other day I'm free for a fart about.

No, I did not realise. I've not been LFS-ing for a fortnight, too busy recently.

A GUNS skin would be really cool.
I'd be up for a few laps, probably not Thursday or Sunday, but any other evening I should be free.
Has Niall got LFS yet? I've had Aaron express some interest, and I should really offer to unlock his copy to S2 so he can get some practice :)

LFS has been patched from U to V

Patched to the W version.
If you've got the LFS version V or above, just running LFS will autoupdate.
Most important changes include:
Fully compatible means it connects with old U30 and V versions, and can play the same replays. The multiplayer protocol and physics have not changed.
The most important changes are :
1) The new car sounds, created by DaveWS who worked very well within the limits of the LFS sound system to create much nicer and more immersive car sounds than the ones we provided with version V. Thanks again for that, Dave!
2) Various graphical updates, including improvements to the level of detail system, improved 2D displays and mirrors, some useful changes to the car triangles on the small map, and some improvements to the efficiency of 2D and 3D drawing.
For a complete list of updates, see the Patch W thread on our forum (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=21880).
To obtain this update, all you have to do is start LFS and click on "List of Games" and you will be given the option to download the update from various mirrors.
If you are new to LFS, you can get the full download from this website. (http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=downloads)

Ok, it looks like the latest LFS development is going to be aimed at balancing legue races and the like, so we are likely to get 32 player servers and the ability to either have a voluntary weight/air intake handicap or server enforced handicap. Either way the next LFS tourney should see much closer races. I can now give my self a sufficent handicap that the AI is a challenge to pass while still in the same car as me. Always a welcome addition.
In other news, if I were to run a race series (you'd need to get the full game remember) who all from here would be interested in taking part. Fortnightly race meetings lasting about 1-2 hours and monthly weekend races lasting about an hour (so the meeting would be about 3 hours). The rest of the racers would be found from the main LFS contingant but the general idea would be a n00b challenge with the weight penalties aimed at close racing rather than being 'fair'. It would be run over the summer on an internet server (rather than one in my home) so free for all to join. Also, how many more would join if it was a demo server?

I'm up for that. As long as you give me a few days' notice, then I can make most times.
also, LFS practice on Tuesdays again?

No more practice sessions. Goto the LFS forum (www.lfsforum.com) and check out the thread on the STCC. Go get your license.
To join the championship I'm thinking of running you will need the full game and a bronze license.
I was thinking of joining the owrl (http://www.owrl.de/news.php) to get a bit of experience racing that won't punish me horribly for being a newbie racer. The STCC sounds a lot like a serious bunch of racers taking it a level more seriously than I can handle.

Not really required dave, nly you and me own the game so we are the only ones that can join.
Just had a wee look round the LFS website, I didn't realise this was an indy game! I'm not a huge fan of it but I'm hugely impressed that its been developed by a three man team, thats a damn polished game considering
We are pleased to announce... a new update : Patch X (http://www.lfs.net/?page=patch_x)
Here are some of the important features in the new version.
- The number of cars that can join a race has been increased to 32
- In demo 12 can race and up to 15 connections
- False starts are now possible (LFS does not hold you at the start line)
- Physics : preload added to clutch pack differentials improving car handling
- Skin improvements including high resolution premium skin download service
- Handicaps! - Global class balancing system (currently applied to GTR and TBO classes)
To update to version X, just run your V or W version and click List of Games in
the Multiplayer screen. You will be given the option to automatically install the update.
For more detailed information about the skin download system and all the other updates,
click here to see the S2X info page. (http://www.lfsshop.com/)

Just a reminder that LFS is now at version Y, get it here (http://www.lfs.net/file_s2.php?id=71) while it's hot! :D
Ok, so while most of you have beasting machines it is worth noting that there are signicant improvements being made to the geometry setup engine which should make in traffic driving a much smoother experience (essentially more objects are punted to the GPU earlier meaning the CPU can get on with physics.) A few other minor things but patch Z should be out soon so watch this space.
Patch Z, tweaks, fixes, goodness all round get it while it's hot. (to get the latest patch join a multiplayer game online and the server will update you.
