Any suggestions for a new one?

No, it's still working, which is nice. Going to get a new one tomorrow, then repair this one.

Looks like it would be (fairly) easily repaired. A few capacitors and a bit of soldering. Nice.

How did it get like that? Do capacitors ooze goop when they overheat?

It's a problem that the original nForce 2 boards had, like mine. The capacitors were the right ones for the job, however, they were not built to last. They dry out after awhile, hence they can't hold the charge properly. As they dry out the "caps" (top) of the capacitors push up as he chemicals escape, i.e. the seal get's broken. In this state, a full charge can cause them to pop.

Which smells. One of the most horrible smells.

I'm kinda lucky as they haven't dried out completly, and created some kinda of seal. So, my machine has been like this since the LAN at least, prob longer. Maybe about 3 weeks I reckon.

Will all be fine though. Have most bad ass Socket A MB you can buy on it's way. The Epox 8RDA6+ Pro. :D

Then I'll repair this one, because, well, it'll be fun! I can keep as it a spare. I really do love this board.

LOL

My new 8RDA6+ Pro is dead out of the box! Memory slots/controller are busted. How about that?

I just get all the luck. :(

That is very unlucky.
Hopefully it'll just be a case of RMA-ing it's sorry ass back to the shop.
Demand a 7800GTX as compensation :)

Man that would be soooo sweet! Pity it wouldn't fit in a Socket A board, but one day....I may have a use for it. :)

I just sent the 8RDA6+ Pro today, so hopefully I'll have that all sorted by the end of the week. Fingers crossed their tech team don't get it working.....

And I should have a DFI Lanparty nF2 Ultra B by Wed, so things may actually get better! :D
