You're right, they close from 2am to 9am in the mornings. We'll have to not be there.

A room is in the process of being booked. I've put in a form into central room bookings, they should come back relatively quickly with a location.

I'll post it up as soon as I find out :)

who IS on for this lan??

Me, dave, pixie, sideshow, mogwai? anyone else? ooops forgot strings. Him too, so, anyone else confirmed coming rather than confirmed NOT coming?

Looks like there are going to be lots of votes for CS, ah well, no bad thing in that I guess.

c'mon dave, I'm sure the world of space tethers and gravity lifts can spare you to put us out of our misery and tell us you have a room and the official start/end times. :P

Just got an email from the central room bookings
Hi there
The John Macintyre hall is not free this weekend as it is going to be set up for open day on Monday therefore if you were to go to a room in for instance the Boyd Orr or the medical school you would need to cover the costs of taking 2 janitors in. This would be aprox £432 for the Saturday and Sunday all day.
After leading me on a wild goose chase and letting us think we had a room for the weekend, he had nothing of the sort.

Asshole.

So, if we want to LAN, for 10 people it will be £40 each (unlikely).

Sorry, this LAN will probably be called off. Sorry.

Alternate idea: online gaming. This weekend hosting some games online using a voicechat prog. Everyone has online capable games and some sort of chat program, we should make use of it.

Or we could do it the old fashioned way - find someone with a biggish flat and all go there...

I second the motion to hijack someones flat.

Well. How much space do we need?

What you reckon guys? Think we could get us in my flat? I would have to ask my flat-mates first of course but if no one else has any room, then I would be willing to give it a go.....

We're looking at about 10 people right?

How about you CannonFodda? You have a spare living room.....

YegaDoyai
30th August 2005, 14:07
could we split between two flats that have bb? some games don't allow this as you have to broadcast your IP and you can't always broadcast the external IP but if we set up VPN then the two LANS would appear as one.

If we managed this I'd not even have to leave my room. Though that does defeat the point somewhat. (gathering of folk, social interaction, all the other things we are famous for) :)

I would definately be up for it, but my parents are coming down, so me and my brother will be sleeping in my living room while my parents, uncle & aunt take our bedrooms. sorry.

'k so are we assuming that the LAN is off for this week then? No-one interested in Pixies idea?

I'm up for going round to pixie's flat. From what I remember he has hall+kitchen+room - 8-10 people should be fairly comfortable (well, relatively).

I'm not actually sure if I can make it now. I've got a presenatation to do for next week (just sprung on me today) and I'm rapidly running out of time to get it finished.

I will be there to help set up (you want the cables and hubs, don't you :) whenever you need me, but I might not be able to stay.

Work sucks. :(

Everybody is happy! YAY! :D

Right, well if people still want to come round for some killing, I need to know some numbers. The other problem is tables. Only have kitchen table (maybe two machines) my table(2, maybe 3 at a squeeze) plus a little table in the hall. So including myself that would be 5 (maybe 6) people. My flat-mates have a desk each too, but they not be too big and I suspect that they won't want to be involved. :( There is a coffee table that I could borrow from Nicks room, but you would have to sit on the floor/your knees.

If we are going to go for this, you reckon we could borrow some tables from the SCR? Get the folding up ones? What you think?

Oh yeah. Dave? How about the Reading Room or maybe (please don't kill me for saying this) the GU?

The Reading room and the GU are no-go's. I already asked, and we would need to affiliate with the GU to get a room there; too little time.

Noe sure about the tables, I'll ask.

Doomed it is then.

Online games as a fallback? If we've all got spare time on our hands, it would be a shame not to use it. Saturday afternoon / evening free anyone?

YegaDoyai

Well it was not a complete disaster, thanks to Pixie for hosting and Sideshow for turning up (twice). I had a good time and I think we may have converted Sideshow to some other games (Ghost Recon) other than CS 1.6

Eh? All we played was CS 1.6.

Hold on a minute...

No TMP. Russians instead of terrorists. Gun not visible on screen. That wasn't CS! You bastards!
