You've really gotta hope one of the bits she upgraded was the 64mb onboard GFX card.

hp pavillion zx 5000 however my mum's had some bits enhanced so it could handle her tv programmes.
In the name of all that is holy what kind of computer cannot handle TV programme decoding (or encoding for that matter) on the CPU? My shitty Tbird 800 could manage full frame MPEG2 compression so what on earth is in that laptop!?! A steam powered C3?

it's not, the C3 media processor from VIA is not shipped in anything that might actaully need to do work at some stage.

Could be worse, could be the comedy kit PCworld are advertising for 199 quid
you too could be the proud owner of a C7 with 256mb of ram and a whooping 20Gb of hard disk space. WOW what a bargain!
</sarcasm mode>
<edit>
Oops its the C3, read in the fabulous Sun that it was a C7. Looks like my intelligence is a bit duff relying on newspapers to state something correctly.
