If you've not heard it from the horses <strike>arse</strike> mouth (http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&id=441), then Steam have announced that DOD:Source is available from the 26th of September.

Day of Defeat®: Source™ (DoD: Source), the latest version of the WWII online action game from Valve®, will be made available to gamers everywhere on September 26.

"Day of Defeat has quietly been one of the most played online action games for the past three years," said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. "Day of Defeat: Source represents a major leap forward in both graphics and gameplay, and pushes the Source engine harder than any other Source project. "

...

Available via Steam for just $19.95 and in the Counter-Strike: Source retail package, DoD: Source is a rebuild from the ground up of Day of Defeat on the Source engine.

DoD: Source will be available for pre-load and pre-order next week. Those who purchased the Half-Life 2 Silver or Gold Steam offers will receive a request to pre-load the game at this time and will receive access to play the moment the game is made available.
So, who's going to stump up another $20 for DOD:S, especially after stumping up $50+ for HL:2.

I liked it better when it was a free mod.

wellll, I actually bought the silver package. HL2, HL source, valve back catalog and oh, what do you know I get DOD:Source included in that. Now a bad deal for £32, HL:Source is actually really good and worth playing. Especialy as you can play from any chapter (bit like a DVD). I'll tell you all if it's worth it shall I?

Sounds like a plan Batman. However, it has some steep compition against BF2, gonna have to be really good to win me over....
